G. R. Kearney is a Chicago-based writer and independent film producer.
Kearney studied English and writing at Georgetown University. From 1999-2001, he worked as a teacher and coach at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School as part of the school's Jesuit Alumni Volunteer Program, which he helped found. He holds an MBA in finance and entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business.
Kearney spent four years working as the senior editor and writer at Partners magazine, a publication of the Chicago Province Jesuits, where his work earned numerous awards. He owns a web development firm. His writing has appeared in America magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Links magazine, and Company magazine. He has also authored two as-yet unpublished novels and a stage play.
His first film, The World's Best Bad Golf Tournament: A Documentary About Bad Golf, will be shown in film festivals around the country beginning in early 2008. Kearney's first book, The Small Things: A Day in the Life of Br. James E. Small, S.J., was published by print-on-demand publisher Xlibris in 2001.
Kearney lives in Chicago with his wife, Tara, who is a journalist. He currently works for a small investment firm in Chicago.
